About
David Ocamb has lived in the DFW metroplex since October 2009 when he moved to the area to be with his wife. Since moving, he worked as the Director of Policy for a statewide gubernatorial race where he wrote all policy related content for the Web site, talking points, briefing books, debate preparation materials and press releases related to policy initiatives. He then took over as Political Director for a national PAC and oversaw all targeting, messaging and fundraising for the PAC through the 2010 election cycle. He is currently looking for additional clients for political campaigns or public affairs campaigns for corporations. He is also interested in potential full time employment working in politics or public affairs.
Prior to moving to Dallas, David lived in Austin and worked as the Senior Director of Accounts for a national political consulting firm and worked on the messaging of over 75 individual campaigns, including statewide, congressional, legislative, municipal and judicial political campaigns as well as issue advocacy campaigns. His work included campaigns in Texas, Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Florida. The messaging tools used on these campaigns include: television advertising, direct mail, palm cards and other materials for distribution, press releases, earned media strategy, blog outreach, Google advertising, and countless others.
Before joining that firm, David worked on political races in Texas and Oklahoma, including working in the field for Congressman Brad Carson’s US Senate race in 2004.
David attended Baylor University, where he earned a M.A. in Political Science and B.A. in Philosophy with a minor in Religion and Politics. He wrote his masters thesis on the role of evangelical voters in the electoral process, and he graduated at the top of his class. He was the President of the Baylor Democrats.
In his spare time, David enjoys spending time with his wife Dorene and their rescued English Pointer Piper. He is a fan of college athletics, in particular cheering on his Baylor Bears in football and basketball and his native OU Sooners in football. He also enjoys cheering on the Dallas Mavericks in the NBA. Additionally, David likes reading, traveling, experiencing new restaurants and culinary adventures, good cigars, wine and Scotch, and spending time with his friends.
